With the holidays right around the corner, I think this is a perfect time to host a little giveaway. In celebration of Holly Marie’s blog turning 2, I’ve team up with some lovely creatives to give away a one year subscription to one of my favourite magazines, Kinfolk!
So, here are the details—the giveaway begins today and will run until Sunday, December 22nd at midnight CST. The contest is open internationally and one winner will be chosen at the end of the two weeks. Make sure to check out Holly Marie’s blog—an amazing source of inspiration and creative insight—and all of the fabulous bloggers who made this giveaway happen. Best of luck!
A pair of great glasses can really add that something extra to an outfit. During the hot summer months I tend to stick to the basics: my favourite loose-fitted tee + a pair of shorts or a long dress + sandals. When I’m feeling tired of my current basics (which tends to happen a lot), often all it takes to feel more polished is the right pair of shades or glasses to transform an old outfit.
Warby Parker makes a ton of great designs but they really out did themselves with a refreshing take on some of my favourite silhouettes. This company doesn’t skimp on quality or craftsmanship and that’s something that’s really important to me. Here’s how I’m pairing my favourite shoreline shade, Piper (in Sand Castle), with some of my current staples.
Warby Parker lets you select five pairs and ships them to you (for free!) to try on at home…AND for every pair purchased, they donate a pair to a person in need. Now that’s something I can get on board with. It’s nice when it feels good to shop, right?
It’s been a while since I posted a want list but with spring just around the corner I’m getting excited to refresh my closet and apartment with a few new pieces. I tend to feel a little underwhelmed by my closet/home between seasons. So, this year I decided to overcome my pre-season rut with a few pick-me-up purchases.
I‘m loving this peach vegan “leather” bag from Matt and Natt. If you’re looking for a cruelty-free sustainable accessories, I’d bookmark this Montreal based shop. Their brand is completely vegan and all their bags are lined with material made from 100% recycled plastic bottles. Pretty awesome!
I’ve also been on the hunt for some new storage pieces and love the idea of investing in a few woven baskets. The large basket above is from Connect Fair Trade, and although I tend to gravitate toward neutral colours this shop has some BEAUTIFUL bright baskets too, perfect for spring. Lastly, I find fresh plants around the house do wonders for my mood during the late months of winter. I’ve been visiting my local floral shop regularly, decorating my apartment with fresh cut flowers, succulents and larger house plants. It may be cold and dreary outside, but it sure feels like spring here at home. You can shop my picks below.
With the holidays just around the corner I find the stress is starting to kick in. I admire people who are able to get all their shopping done early November. If you’re like me, a last minute shopper, and you’re looking for an inexpensive, easy to put together gift try this lazy Sunday survival kit idea. I’ve used this idea twice this season and it’s worked out great. Just fill a box it with cozy goodies that are perfect for a day in. In my package I’ve added tea, candles, matches, a mug, knitted slippers, eggnog pancake mix (yum! see below for the recipe) and a cozy faux fur blanket (it was on sale for $20 at Marshalls!). You could also add some great bath products or your favourite novel. And of course, I’ve put together some printable notes and tags that you can download right here. Just print the PDF front to back on a thicker paper or card stock. That easy!
Eggnog pancake mix fill a large mason jar with… 3 cups flour 2 tablespoons sugar
5 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
* Don’t forget to add your printable tag with the wet ingredient instructions. Enjoy and happy holidays!
I seem to have lost the colour in my wardrobe lately, but that’s okay because these neutral basics are oh so pretty. I’ve been looking for a long black winter coat that I can dress up or down. This one is just perfect and so is the price. The jewellery is another pick from Moorea Seal. I found a lot of great holiday gifts browsing their website. You can browse too right here.
I’m happy to say things have been crazy busy around here. For the past couple of weeks I’ve been working on two new web + branding projects and I can’t wait to share some process work over the next month or so. Since I can’t share any work just yet, I thought I’d post something I can share—another want list of my favourite cozy goodies!
I just love the artwork on the mug by Society6 illustrator Mirtle. This artist has some amazing prints, which are totally worth heading over right here to have a look. The best thing about Society6 is that you can enjoy prints in so many different ways (and support your favourite artists too).
I’m also in love with the toque, which is made by Mutton Head and manufactured right here in Toronto. Their unisex clothing is pretty awesome. Local finds always make me happy. If they make you happy too, you can follow the link to see more right here.
